Interview of Sienna by Maddie Langley
Hey Sienna. How are you?
Hi! I’m pretty good!
Tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m 22 years old and from Byron Bay. I grew up in a little town called Mullumbimby in a house my dad built for us on a big property. When I was 11 I joined the circus full time.
What is something you are passionate about?
Something I am passionate about is hula hooping. My coach told me I needed a specialty so she decided it would be hula hoops and now, years later, it has taken me around the world: Barcelona, Brussels, Paris, London!
What do you love most about hula hooping?
I love the happiness it inspires, the friends I’ve made along the way and performing.
Can you explain the process of your training?
For training I do a wide range of different things from strength to cardio, to aerials and tumbling. Hula hooping is most about core strength!
You’ve mentioned that you have travelled a lot. Where was your favourite place to visit and why?
I think my favourite place we went as a group was Barcelona. There was a group of us girls who flew in from London. We skated everywhere, swam, ate and basked in the sunshine.
What is some advice you’d give your 16-year- old self?
Keep training and believe in yourself!
Who is someone that inspires you?
Someone that inspires me would have to be Leonie Mills. She is the founder of Spaghetti circus and is an all round incredible woman.
How do you motivate yourself?
Sometimes motivation can be hard but when I write a list and put my mind to work I can do it!
What makes you happy?
I am definitely at my most happy when I am flying through the air on the teeterboard (which is an acrobatic board that looks a little like a seesaw!). Or when I achieve a new trick!
