Natasha Weber on Astrology’s Resurgence

Hi Natasha, how are you? Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your work?

Hello, It’s so lovely to connect with you. I’m well, thanks, and I hope the stars are shining for you, too!

My fascination with the mystical stretches back to a maternal lineage of clairvoyants. I grew up watching my mother conduct seances and commune with the dead. Growing up in the Melbourne Zoo, where my parents worked, I gained a deep appreciation for nature’s rhythms and learned how interconnected we all are—animals, humans, and the vast universe around us.

After my first child was born, I began my astrology studies, but it took 15 years before I launched AstroTash. With my Gemini Sun in the 6th house, I’m a perfectionist—I believed I needed to be more knowledgeable or accomplished before I was ‘ready’. Of course, this was self-sabotage. Recognising my perfectionist Virgo 6th house traits helped me move past this and finally share my astrology insights. Launching when I did was divine timing; despite my self-doubt, the world was ready for a resurgence in astrology. There was a boom in interest, especially among millennials, and it was time to step up as a voice for astrology.

Can you share your favourite things about your own astrological chart?

I’ve grown to love the strengths and challenges of my astrological blueprint—Gemini Sun, Leo Moon, Sagittarius Rising, Leo Midheaven. Every birth chart comes with its unique set of potentials and difficulties; it’s all about how we work with them. For me, one standout advantage is having the fixed star Regulus on my Midheaven. Fixed stars, which are stationary stars within the constellations, are rooted in ancient mythology. Regulus, an auspicious fixed star in the Leo constellation, symbolises fame and fortune. Known as a royal star, its position on the Midheaven (the career point in a birth chart) is highly advantageous. Also, I appreciate that my Sagittarius Rising fuels my passion for teaching and guides my moral code. As for being a Gemini? We’re seriously misunderstood—more on that another time!

As the daughter of an Astrologer, I have always been surrounded by astrology and have been fascinated by its huge surge in popularity, how does it feel for you to see people from all walks of life appreciating astrology?

Astrologers are a rare breed, so I love that it was part of your childhood!

Astrology has a rich history that spans millennia, from its origins in Mesopotamia to guiding kings and queens on critical issues. Great minds like Hippocrates, Galileo, and Jung have championed astrology through the ages. It has experienced fluctuations in popularity, declining during the rise of Christianity but regaining traction in the 1930s with sun sign horoscopes in newspapers. Recently, astrology has seen another resurgence as more people question life’s purpose and celebrate diverse views, aligning well with astrology’s philosophical and non-conformist nature. Today’s advances in quantum physics are also starting to validate ancient beliefs about interconnectivity through energy, bridging science and mysticism.

How do I feel about this resurgence? I’m passionate, almost beyond words. It feels like vindication for those burned at the stake, accused of being witches for their pagan wisdom. I’m also incredibly proud of our growing openness to different perspectives and comforted by humanity’s progressive steps toward a more evolved way of thinking and living.

Tell us about the process of writing Your Celestial Compass?

I’ve always been passionate about bridging the gap between ancient astrological wisdom and the mainstream star sign horoscopes that many are familiar with. While I deep dive into each of the twelve Zodiac signs, I wanted to show people they are far more than just their sun sign. I had so much to teach (there’s my Sagittarius rising), and writing a book seemed like the perfect way to encapsulate my 24 years of astrology experience. It took me 7 years to write, but I knew it would be published in divine timing. In the final few months, I went into complete hermit mode, shutting myself off from everyone and everything so I could be completely immersed in the writing process. I even travelled to far north Queensland to concentrate on writing and be inspired by nature. Aside from snorkelling with a reef shark and forest bathing in the Daintree, I devoted myself to bringing the book to life.

What transits are you looking forward to next year?

The astrology of 2025 is extraordinary: almost all of the outer planets will transition into new zodiac signs. This is remarkably rare, considering these planets typically spend over a decade, in some cases more than a century, in a single sign. Such a collective shift signifies one thing: a profound transformation for humanity.

While change often comes with its challenges, it also brings opportunities for growth. I’m particularly looking forward to Jupiter’s connection (sextile) to Comet Chiron on November 2. Jupiter, the planet of expansion and opportunity, aligning with Chiron, the wounded healer, opens a powerful window for collective and personal healing. This astrology could inspire empathy and generosity on a global scale. We might witness a charitable initiative or a renewed focus on supporting those in greatest need. On a personal level, this alignment invites us to explore forgiveness, both of others and, crucially, of ourselves. Self-forgiveness, often the most challenging yet transformative act, becomes more accessible under this influence.

Jupiter’s angle to Chiron brings a profound opportunity to cultivate compassion, reminding us of our capacity to transform wounds into wisdom.

What advice do you have for newcomers to astrology?

Astrology is experiencing a surge in popularity, which is exciting but also brings challenges. While it’s great to see more people interested in astrology, the rise of social media has led to an increase in unqualified individuals offering astrological advice. Most are well-intentioned, but some are taking advantage. My advice is to be discerning about your sources of astrological guidance. Consider the credentials of those you follow: Where have they studied? Do they hold qualifications from reputable astrological organisations?

For those interested in pursuing astrology professionally, I recommend seeking formal qualifications. If you’re drawn to astrology for personal development, timing life’s big decisions, or aligning with the planets for a more fulfilling life, ensure you’re learning from reliable sources.
