Poem by Haylee Penfold // photograph by Blitzed Images
I’ve been told it takes seven years
for your skin to completely renew.
How refreshing it was to me,
to know that I am finally free of any trace of you.
My thighs that show the scars
of what high school put me through,
slowly seem to fade.
Now the only marks left on me,
are the tattoos I choose,
to tell the stories
I am not yet brave enough
To speak with words.
