Dear Readers,
As the last of the summer slips away it is the perfect time for one thing: road trips. Whether you’re taking a family holiday or a last minute trek to the beach, the best part about hitting the open road is winding the windows down and playing driving tunes. I based this playlist on a mix I made a few years ago, I had just finished a four month tour across America (which is basically one long road trip) only to have my band split up at the end. Lost and confused I went on one last pilgrimage with an old friend to Astoria to go to a party in a shipping yard. We went to the beach The Goonies was filmed, saw wild elks and ate copious amounts of waffles all the while listening to a lot of Willie Nelson. I’ve listened to the mix every trip since – adding and subtracting songs with each passing year. I love the journey more than the destination, I love the fizzy feeling of anticipation that only comes with the open road, I love finding weird roadside attractions, buying useless souvenirs and drinking bad gas station coffee. So wherever you find yourself, here is your soundtrack.
Happy travels, Ruby xx
