Poem by Liana K // art by Lola Dunham

She never thought she was pretty for she was blind,

So she hid behind her intellectually inquisitive mind,

For a girl could not be smart and pretty at the same time.

She wrapped herself in the knowledge of wonder,

Her brain imploded with raptured thunder,

But at the end of the day, she would sit there and mutter,

Without beauty, I just become dumber.

But then she opened her eyes,

For she was pretty and wise,

Why now her beauty truly flies,

And the thought of being either smart or pretty forever dies.
