MEET: Jazmine
Marketing and communications intern.
Hey Jazmine, how are you?
Hey! I’m pretty good today, attempting to focus on studying for my uni exams but procrastinating and watching ‘Killing Eve’.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
Ireland has been one of my favourite places I have travelled to and I would love to live there right now. Everyone is so genuinely lovely and I still can’t get over how beautiful the countryside is.
What is something not many people know about you?
Not many people around me know that I love making little films whether it is on my go-pro or a $15 camera my sister bought me off Ebay. The combination of little snippets of my life with funky music in the background is such a nice thing to be able to look back and reflect on.
Where does your passion lie?
I consider myself passionate about various things such as intersectional feminism, body positivity, celebrating diversity and education surrounding these topics. Using social media for change is something that needs to be utilised more in order for awareness and education to be spread. Everyone has a voice and we should all try to use it!
Why did you want to be a Ramona intern?
I found out about the internship with Ramona through their Instagram page and as soon as I saw the opportunity to work and collaborate with a company that shares similar values as myself I was so keen to apply. To be honest I never thought I would get this internship but when I got the email from the Ramona Team I was so happy & excited!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years at 25 I would love to be working overseas and doing marketing/communications work for a company with similar values as mine for important social change issues such as equality, climate change and education. I would love to own a rescue chihuahua or greyhound or both 🙂
MEET: Zadie

Hey Zadie, how are you?
Hi! I am feeling very good and very tired — a usual state of being for me.
Where do you call home?
Melbourne, amongst others, is my home. It’s where I live, work, study and play, and I love it like an extra limb.
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
If I could change just one thing about the world, I would start to tackle the climate emergency immediately by implementing 100% renewable energy in every single nation on Earth. I believe climate change to be the most important and pressing issue we face today.
If you could wake up with a new talent, what would it be?
Honestly, I’d like to be able to sew and embroider without actually having to put the work in. That would fun. That, or flight, my favourite superpower.
What made you want to be a Ramona intern?
I wanted to become a Ramona intern because I adore Ramona to its very core, and I believe in its work and mission wholeheartedly. I’m also just obsessed with marketing and communications (what a nerd!), and working with Ramona seemed like such an incredible entry point into that world.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully, in five years — when I’m twenty-two — I’ll be working as an artist, writer and curator, and somehow making money too. I’ll be studying curation as part of a double-major arts degree, I’ll be riding bikes more often, I’ll be looking after myself very well, and I’ll have finally learnt how to use eyeliner.
MEET: Jessie Li
Art intern.
Hey Jessie, how are you?
I am so good! I am dedicating this summer to friends, family, and art. I am having the time of my life!
Where do you call home?
Orlando, Florida is my home; I was born and raised there. I moved to Gainesville for school almost a year ago, but Orlando still has my heart.
What gets you up in the morning?
I try to treat every day like an opportunity to bring myself closer to my dreams.
Where do you hope to be in five years?
In five years, I hope to be living in Los Angeles, working in the film industry–making my dreams come true.
Why did you want to be a Ramona intern?
I have felt inspired and empowered by the content of Ramona Magazine for years. I want to be a part of the team that creates that for others.
MEET: Shannon
Marketing and communications intern.
Where do you call home?
I’ve been living in Melbourne for the last year and a half after moving from Newcastle, Australia.
What is something not many people know about you?
Most people don’t know that I have a twin sister.
If you could wake up with a new talent, what would it be?
I wish I could wake up one day and be a good dancer.
What made you want to be a Ramona intern?
I wanted to be an intern with Ramona so I could be part of creating content by and for young women.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself living in a cozy apartment in New York City working as a photographer and being able to travel for my work.
MEET: Andy
Writing intern.
Hello Andy, how are you?
Hi! I’m very well thank you … I’m very excited!
Tell us a little bit about yourself
I live in Mexico City and I’m studying in my last year of high school specialization in human resources, I like to write, it’s the most satisfying thing I’ve done in a creative way and I really enjoy it! Writing has helped me understand my illness, I was diagnosed with depression at 20, and writing has helped me understand a little about who I am.
Why did you want to intern at Ramona?
The way Ramona magazine empowers women is unique. Freya, along with all the women who make this magazine possible, are women with great strength and courage who are not afraid to show their vulnerabilities. I would like to give a little of how much Ramona magazine has given me (confidence, security, Self-esteem.)
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
Gender equality, I would like that as women we have more opportunities
Where does your biggest passion lie?
Definitely in the writing, it’s amazing to me that we all have the same words at our disposal and, depending on how we put them together, we can create a world, we can tell stories.
